After wet snow fell on Saturday, Fairbanks received cold temps on Sunday and a layer of ice on all roadways. The road crews were sleeping in but we had a race to get to. We kept the speed down -- we saw at least three accidents -- and just rolled over to North Pole, Alaska, for the North Pole Championhips and Junior North American Sled Dog Championships. Our Hakka 7 tires were superb on the ice, even glare ice, with no sand or gravel to assist. My daughter won the one-dog, junior skijoring event while I took 3rd in the adult, two-dog race.
