My daughters and two of their friends went night skiing Friday night at a local area called Bolton Valley. We had gotten 6 inches of snow during the day and it was still snowing.
I was looking forward to the access road. It has several exciting turns and climbs over 1750ft vertical to the ski area at 2100ft, the highest ski area base in New England.
Because of all the gear, instead of our VW Passat TDI, I took our Subaru Outback which has a large Yakima roof box on it. Luckily the Suby has studded Nokian Hakkapeliitta 7 SUVs. It also has AWD which makes it great for hill climbing.
Darkness, continuing snow, and 20 mph northwest winds, could have made driving with four teens on the snow covered challenging road, stressful.
But because of the Nokian tires (and Subaru AWD) the trip was drama free, so much so that the girls never even commented on the heinous driving conditions.
